After the stunningly poor pass protection in last Sunday's 31-13 loss at Kansas City, the Colts wasted little time in jettisoning their offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo.

Amazingly, DeGuglielmo was retained by the Colts as part of the would-be coaching staff of Josh McDaniels, who rescinded his verbal agreement to become the head coach of the Colts which led to Indianapolis eventually hiring Frank Reich for the head coach position.

It tells you how desperate teams can be to fill their coaching vacancies, given the dearth of quality candidates in the insular world of NFL coaching. It's also part of the collateral damage McDaniels left in the wake of his controversial withdrawal, which inspired speculation about revenge motives pertaining to the Colts alleged snitch role in the Deflategate episode.

But Frank "Lloyd" Reich has to shoulder some of the blame. His architectural misfire could have been prevented by balking at any notion of a McDanials acolyte being part of the Colts regime.

The firing of DeGuglielmo, though swift, was too late to give the Colts a chance to poach offensive line coach extraordinaire Mike Munchak from the Steelers. Munchak has made his lateral move to Denver.
