Yank formula:

(Innings pitched divided by appearances)
multiplied by WHIP

Settle fractions by using d1000

Separate pitcher roles between starter
and reliever and create Yank number for
each role, if applicable.

Combined total of walks plus hits
plus HBP surrendered within each game
appearance is what constitutes a
pitcher's yank number.

This is an optional rule to replace
part of the S-O-M POW rule.

It closely simulates the pitch count.

Once any pitcher has reached his
YN (Yank Number), he's knocked out
of the game. Yanked.

Example: Rollie Fingers was a pure
reliever in 1982. His YN (Yank Number)
is calculated to be 1.660 which means he
will be forced to leave the game after
surrendering either 2 or 3 combined
walks/hits/HBP. The fraction (.660)
determines the probability of his
eligibility beyond giving up one
aforementioned qualifier. His YN is 3
if d1000 falls within 1-660 range and 2
if roll is 661-1000. A pitcher with a YN
of 1.000 means that 2 qualifiers are needed
to knock him out of a game because that
1.000 needs to be exceeded.

As always, we recommend using Flex Rosters,
Pitcher Regulation Tables, and sub cards
(see those threads) before playing a game.
