RGL: Random Game Log
IRP: Injury Replacement Player
X-I: Extra Innings (player activation)
------------------------------------------

These regulations and allowances are applied to part time players who had anywhere from zero plate appearances to a little more than a hundred plate appearances. These players often had excellent hitting stats or had zero errors at a given position in somewhat limited action.

d1000 selects random game log from RGL Table For 162 and that log will serve as a guide for the team that rolled d1000. Each team rolls for random game log before beginning a contest. Small sample players who participated in that game will be allowed to participate in the simulated game in similar context to how they were used in that real game.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team-by-team small sample player regulations for 1982 S-O-M baseball simulation:

Milwaukee Brewers

Larry Hisle has no restrictions. He's more likely to be underused than overused. So his regulation is IRP for the DH position. He uses 1982 Floyd Rayford as his hitter sub.

Milwaukee had great lineup stability. Utility infielder and mixed player (OAK/MIL) Rob Picciolo is one of the Brewers' RGL/IR players.

1982 Rob Picciolo: .286/.318/.333 (OPS .651)
1982 Mike Proly---: .286/.286/.357 (OPS .643)

Those are the hitter slash lines for MIL Picciolo and Chicago Cubs reliever Mike Proly. Picciolo was 6 for 21 with one double and one walk for Milwaukee. Proly was 4 for 14 with one double and zero walks for the Cubs.

1982 Proly was assigned #5WR by S-O-M for his pitcher hitting card. 1982 MIL Picciolo will have that same pitcher's hitting card #5WR as his hitter subcard.

Picciolo had zero errors in 9 chances during his 21 innings at second base for 1982 Brewers. He didn't appear at 2B for OAK, his other team. S-O-M made their small sample adjustment and assigned e8 to MIL Picciolo for 2B.

That S-O-M e8 is the default for Picciolo when game log does not include him as 2B fielder. When game log includes him as 2B fielder, he may participate in the corresponding game simulation as an e0 at 2B, but if or when he exceeds his game log innings he must default back the the S-O-M designated e8. This applies to all fielders.

Picciolo is also an IRP for Yount and Gantner. Ed Romero will get more time as SS-2B sub but Picciolo will provide depth.
