The New York Jets have avoided disaster by hiring former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase instead of bloated, underachieving ex-Packer head coach Mike McCarthy or Baylor head coach Matt Ruhle--who nobody knows or cares about.

Gase is a strong personality who's not afraid to be bold or confrontational. A bright offensive mind. Only 40 years old yet experienced as an NFL head coach.

He worked for lousy owner Stephen Ross in Miami and his teams seemed to win more games than their talent level would suggest.

His arrival with the Jets sets in motion a wonderful blood fued between Gase/Jets and Ross/Dolphins. Staying in the AFC East also allows him to continue his rivalry with Bill Belichick and the Patriots, whose dynasty may come to an end soon with the aging of Tom Brady.

Gase should work well with young quarterback Sam Darnold. In the coming years, it will likely be the Jets who will be the top team in their division.
